F3 Drywall Inlay Panel for Wall Tiling - FF Systems

The F3 Drywall Inlay Panel for Wall Tiling from FF Systems is a recessed access solution with a welded aluminum frame designed for direct tile application. This model provides convenient access to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems behind tiled wall surfaces. It maintains alignment with surrounding tile and grout lines while remaining nearly invisible when closed.

Designed exclusively for wall installations, the access panel accommodates ½" (12.7 mm) or ⅝" (15.8 mm) drywall with a rough opening ⅜" larger than the door on all sides. Its fully detachable door opens top-to-bottom and lifts out completely for maintenance or tile application. Moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard comes standard, making it suitable for bathrooms, commercial kitchens, and wet utility areas.

The F3 uses touch latches and safety chains to control door movement during access. The panel ships ready for tile installation on the greenboard surface. Due to the additional weight of the applied tile, the maximum panel size is limited to 24" x 36" or an equivalent perimeter of 112".

Why Should You Use the F3?

  • Invisible Integration with Tile: The panel aligns with surrounding tile and grout lines, eliminating visible hardware or surface interruptions. Once tiled, the access point becomes indistinguishable from the finished wall.
  • Simplified Tile Application: The fully detachable door allows separate tile installation away from the wall, then reinstalls without tools. This separation improves tile alignment and reduces installation complexity.
  • Moisture-Resistant for Wet Areas: Moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard comes standard, providing durability in bathrooms, shower surrounds, commercial kitchens, and other high-humidity environments without additional waterproofing.
  • Controlled Access Operation: Touch latches enable quick entry while safety chains prevent uncontrolled door swing. This added control is important during maintenance in finished spaces and high-traffic commercial installations.
  • Project-Specific Sizing: Custom sizes are available up to 24" x 36" (112" perimeter), accommodating non-standard access requirements while maintaining structural integrity under tile weight.

Installation Instructions

  1. Mark the Location: Identify the installation spot and note any nearby studs or joists. Measure the inner frame dimensions and add 3/8" (9mm) to each side to determine the opening size.
  2. Cut the Opening: Draw two 90° baselines on the wall or ceiling, keeping them 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Mark the opposite sides, confirm all lines are square, then cut a clean opening with a drywall saw or utility knife.
  3. Secure the Panel: Remove the door hatch and fit the frame separately. When installing into a wall, position the unit with the latches at the top. Slide the frame through the opening and pull it firmly into place. Drive screws into the panel frame, spaced no more than 4" (102mm) apart.
  4. Apply the Tile: Test that the door opens correctly, then apply tile separately to the hatch and wall.
  5. Install the Safety Cable: Wipe the frame and door with a damp cloth to remove any grout residue, then attach the safety cable.

When tiled wall surfaces require concealed access and moisture resistance is critical, the F3 Drywall Inlay Panel for Wall Tiling - FF Systems delivers a purpose-built solution for wall-only installations.
