BA-IVT
BA-IVT Invisa Hatch™ Drywall Inlay for Wall Tiling
The BA-IVT Invisa Hatch™ Drywall Inlay for Wall Tiling from Best Access Doors features a welded high-grade aluminum frame with a moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard inlay. Compatible with ½" and ⅝" drywall, this recessed access panel accepts tile directly on its surface. It provides concealed access to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems in bathrooms, kitchens, and utility areas.
The panel operates with concealed touch latches for top-to-bottom opening and includes safety chains on units 12" x 12" and larger. A ⅛" (3 mm) reveal between the frame and door aligns with grout lines, creating a nearly invisible appearance once tiled and grouted.
Designed for wall installation only, the BA-IVT requires a rough opening equal to the door size plus ⅜" per side. Standard sizes range from 8" x 8" to 24" x 24", with custom options available up to 24" x 36" or a maximum perimeter of 112".

Why Should You Use the BA-IVT?
- Supports Custom Sizing: This model is available in custom dimensions up to 24" x 36" or a 112" perimeter, allowing you to match specific access requirements and tile patterns.
- Detaches for Easier Tiling: You can tile the frame and door separately, making installation easier and protecting surrounding tile during future maintenance.
- Blends with Grout Lines: After completing installation and grouting, the ⅛" reveal blends with surrounding grout lines, hiding the panel within the tiled surface.
- Withstands Humidity and Moisture: The greenboard inlay is moisture- and mildew-resistant, so it won’t degrade in humid environments like bathrooms, kitchens, and other wet areas.
- Provides Hardware-Free Access: Concealed touch latches eliminate visible handles while providing quick access. On access panels sizes 12" x 12" and larger, safety chains control door movement when the tile increases the weight.
Installation Instructions
- Choose the Location: Mark the installation spot and note nearby studs or joists. Measure the inner frame dimensions and add 3/8" (9mm) to each side to get the opening size.
- Mark and Cut the Opening: Draw two perpendicular baselines on the wall or ceiling, 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Mark the opposite sides, check that all lines are square, then cut a clean opening using a drywall saw or utility knife.
- Fit the Frame: Detach the door hatch and fit the frame on its own. When fitting into a wall, keep the latches facing up. Pass the frame through the opening and pull it back firmly into place. Fasten screws into the panel frame, no more than 4" (102mm) apart.
- Tile the Surface: Confirm the door opens freely, then apply tile separately to the hatch and wall.
- Attach the Safety Cable: Clean the frame and door with a damp cloth to clear any grout, then secure the safety cable.
