BA-IVHFH Invisa Hatch™ Drywall Inlay Panel with Fixed Hinges

The BA-IVHFH Invisa Hatch™ Drywall Inlay Panel with Fixed Hinges from Best Access Doors creates invisible access points in finished walls and ceilings. Its recessed design accepts ½" or ⅝" drywall inlay with a tight 1/16" reveal between frames. Once installed and painted, all hardware—hinges, latches, and frame components—disappears behind the finished drywall.

The access panel's fixed hinges support flexible installation orientations, allowing it to swing left, right, or downward in wall applications. For ceiling installations, position the touch latches away from adjacent walls to make them easier to reach. It also includes built-in safety chains or cables that prevent uncontrolled door movement during access.

Standard sizes for BA-IVHFH range from 8" x 8" up to 24" x 36". Custom dimensions are also available for openings up to 60" on one side, with a maximum combined perimeter of 160".

Why Should You Use the BA-IVHFH?

  • Creates Invisible Access: The recessed design accepts drywall that sits flush with the surrounding surface. Once painted, the 1/16" reveal becomes nearly invisible, maintaining clean walls and ceilings without exposed hardware.
  • Configures to Site Conditions: Its fixed hinges allow left, right, or downward swing orientations in walls. This design lets you adapt to door clearances, adjacent fixtures, and traffic flow without relocating the rough opening.
  • Simplifies Finish Work: The panel accepts the same ½" or ⅝" drywall as the wall assembly, so it receives identical finishing—same mud, tape, texture, and paint as surrounding surfaces.
  • Adds Security When Needed: Touch latches provide standard access, while optional cam latches and cylinder locks restrict entry to mechanical spaces without adding visible hardware to the finished surface.
  • Accommodates Non-Standard Openings: Custom sizing up to 60" on one side with 160" maximum perimeter lets you specify panels that fit existing rough openings instead of adjusting framing to match stock dimensions.

Installation Instructions

  1. Choose and Measure the Location: Mark where the panel will be installed, noting stud or joist positions. Take the inner frame dimensions and add 3/8" (9mm) to each measurement for the rough opening.
  2. Mark the Opening: On the wall or ceiling, draw two perpendicular baselines set 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Use the measurements to mark all four sides and check that the corners are square.
  3. Cut the Opening: Cut along the marked outline using a drywall saw or utility knife, keeping all edges neat and straight.
  4. Mount the Panel: Insert the panel through the cutout and pull it back snugly against the surface. Fasten it with screws through the drywall into the frame, placed no further than 4" (102mm) apart.
  5. Check, Compound, and Clean: Check that the door swings open freely, apply drywall compound around the edges, attach the safety cable, and clean the frame and door with a damp cloth.

The BA-IVHFH Invisa Hatch™ Drywall Inlay Panel with Fixed Hinges from Best Access Doors combines concealed hardware with flexible installation options to meet the demands of non-rated wall and ceiling applications.
