F2 Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fully Detachable Hatch – FF Systems

The F2 Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fully Detachable Hatch from FF Systems is a flush, removable access panel with concealed hardware and a 1/16" reveal between aluminum frames. This model provides access to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems behind finished walls and ceilings. It accommodates ½" (12.7 mm) or ⅝" (15.8 mm) drywall and becomes invisible once painted to match the surrounding surface.

Built from high-grade welded aluminum, the frame and hatch create a solid, durable structure. A white foam perimeter gasket runs along the inside of the frame. Moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard comes standard, making the panel suitable for environments with variable humidity. The fully detachable hatch features an open-hinge design, allowing complete removal for maintenance or inspection.

The F2 operates with touch latches and safety chains or cables. Optional lock hardware can be added for secure access control. The panel ships ready to paint and is designed for non-rated walls and ceilings. For ceiling openings exceeding 40" x 40", a double-door configuration is available up to 80" x 36".

Why Should You Use the F2?

  • Concealed Integration: The 1/16" reveal and concealed hardware allow the panel to blend into finished drywall and ceiling surfaces. Once painted, no visible frames or hardware interrupt the architectural finish.
  • Complete Hatch Removal: The open hinge design allows full hatch detachment for maintenance access. The entire panel lifts out and reinstalls without tools, reducing service time in areas requiring frequent inspection.
  • Moisture-Resistant Construction: Moisture- and mildew-resistant greenboard comes standard, providing durability in bathrooms, utility spaces, and other environments where humidity levels fluctuate.
  • Secure Access Control: Touch latches and safety chains provide standard operation. Optional cam latches and cylinder locks are available for installations requiring restricted access or additional security measures.
  • Extended Size Capability: Single-leaf panels accommodate wall installations up to 73" and ceiling installations up to 40" x 40". Double-door configurations extend ceiling capacity to 80" x 36" with no center mullion obstructing the opening.

Installation Instructions

  1. Mark the Location: Identify the installation spot and note any nearby studs or joists. Measure the inner frame dimensions and add ¾" (9mm) to each side to determine the rough opening.
  2. Cut the Opening: Draw two 90° baselines on the wall or ceiling, keeping them 1¼"–4" (32–102mm) from any stud or joist. Confirm the lines are square, then cut a clean opening with a drywall saw or utility knife.
  3. Secure the Panel: Slide the panel through the opening and pull it firmly into position. Drive screws through the drywall into the panel frame, spaced no more than 4" (102mm) apart.
  4. Test and Apply the Compound: Confirm the door opens correctly, then apply drywall compound separately to the hatch and wall.
  5. Install the Safety Cable: Wipe the frame and door clean with a damp cloth and attach the safety cable.

When architectural finishes demand invisible access and projects require removable hatches for frequent maintenance, the F2 Drywall Inlay Access Panel with Fully Detachable Hatch – FF Systems provides a non-rated solution for walls and ceilings.
